Mesothelioma Screening

Mesothelioma Screening-There is no universally agreed protocol for screening people who have been exposed to asbestos. Screening tests might diagnose mesothelioma earlier than conventional methods thus improving the survival prospects for patients.

Serum osteopontin level might be useful in screening people who are exposed to asbestos for mesothelioma. Soluble mesothelin related protein levels elevated in the serum of about 75% of patients at diagnosis and has suggested that it might be useful for screening.

Doctors have begun testing Mesomark test that measures the levels of mesothelin-related protein soluble (SMRPs) released by mesothelioma cells sick.
